San Jose, California · Fleet operator in formation

San Jose's homegrown robotaxi fleet.

SJ Robotaxi is a locally owned autonomous fleet operator preparing to launch with Tesla Cybercab — starting with 10 to 20 vehicles serving downtown San Jose, SJC airport, and the Silicon Valley commute.

Why San Jose

The biggest city in the Bay Area is still an open market.

Robotaxi networks have concentrated in San Francisco. San Jose — larger by population, home to the region's airport, and the daily destination for Silicon Valley's workforce — has room for a local operator who knows the ground.

01

Next door to Fremont

Tesla's Fremont factory is 20 minutes up I‑880. Vehicle delivery, service, and parts logistics stay short and local.

02

SJC airport demand

Mineta San José International sits five minutes from downtown — a dense, repeatable trip pattern that fits a small fleet from day one.

03

The Silicon Valley commute

Tech campuses across Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Cupertino draw predictable weekday traffic in both directions.

04

A local operator, not a satellite

We are headquartered in San Jose with a facility, staff, and relationships already in place. City permits and local partnerships are home turf.

05

Hub-ready infrastructure

Our parent company fabricates and installs signage and site infrastructure. Mobility hubs, wayfinding, and charging-site build-out are capabilities we already own.

06

Registered with Tesla

SJ Robotaxi's parent company has submitted to Tesla's Robotaxi fleet and mobility-hub interest program for the San Jose / Silicon Valley deployment region.

The Plan

Start small, run it right, then grow.

We are not trying to be everywhere. We are trying to be the best-run fleet in one city, then expand from a base that already works.

Phase 1

10–20 vehicles, San Jose core

Downtown, SJC airport, and Diridon Station. Establish operations, maintenance, cleaning, and rider quality standards. Prove unit economics on a tight, well-understood service area.

Phase 2

Silicon Valley expansion

Extend service to the tech corridor — Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Cupertino. Add vehicles as demand and network approvals allow.

Phase 3

Mobility hubs

Purpose-built staging, charging, and service hubs. Designed, signed, and built in-house, and offered to other operators entering the South Bay.

Our Story

SJ stands for San Jose. It also stands for Shin Jhin.

In 1990, in Ui-dong, a neighborhood in the Dobong district of Seoul, my father ran a taxi company called Shin Jhin Taxi. It was his life's work, and it did not survive. Not long after, our family's story moved across the Pacific to California.

Thirty-five years later, I am starting a taxi company again — in a new country, with a new name, and with cars that drive themselves.

SJ Robotaxi is that second chapter. Every letter in the name carries both cities: the one where the idea was lost, and the one where it is being rebuilt.

We have been preparing for this for years. The domains were registered long before there was a vehicle to buy. When Tesla opened its fleet program to independent operators, we were already waiting.
